Finished Chest Measurements: 35 3/4 (38, 40 1/4, 43 1/2)
Materials:
Crystal Palace Yarns TAOS:
5 (6, 7, 8) 50-gr balls [model shown in #21 "cacao menta"
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles:
US Size 5 (3.25mm) straight; 35 circular needle & double pointed needles; US
Size 7 (4.5mm) straight needles.
Note: The longer circular needle is needed for
working the front band, double pointed needles used for I-cord ties.
Gauge:
21 sts and 29 rows = 4 in Reverse St st. For correct sizing, be
sure to do a gauge swatch.
Reverse Stockinette:
Row 1 (RS): Purl.
Row 2: Knit.
Abbreviations: Beg-begin; BO-bind off; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; Dpn(s)-double
pointed needle(s); Inc-increase; K-knit; K2tog-knit 2 stitches together; ndl(s)-needle(s);
PU-pick up; P-purl; rem-remain; rep-repeat; rnd(s)-round(s); RS-right side;
ssk-slip, slip knit 2 stitches together through back loops; st(s)-stitch(es); ST
st-Stockinette stitch; WS-wrong side; YO-yarn over.
Back
Using Size 5 straight ndls, CO 93 (99, 105, 113) sts. Knit 5 rows. Purl 1 row.
Work Openwork pattern as follows:
Open Work Pattern:
Row 1 (WS): K2, *YO, *k2tog; rep from * to last st, end k1.
Rows 2, 4 and 6 (RS): Purl.
Rows 3 and 7: Knit.
Row 5: K2, *ssk, YO; rep from * to last st, end k1.
Row 8: Purl.
Rep rows 1-5 once more, inc 1 st on last row94 (100, 106, 114) sts.
Change to size 7 ndls; work in Reverse Stockinette Stitch until piece measures
12 (12, 12 1/2, 12 1/2).
Shape Armhole
BO 3 sts at beg next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg next 4 (4, 4, 6) rows and 1 st at beg
next 6 (6, 6, 8) rows. Work 2 rows even; BO 1 st at beg next 2 rows. Work even
until piece measures 18 1/4 (19 1/4, 20 1/4, 20 3/4).
Shape Neck
Work 24 (26, 28, 28) sts, join 2nd ball of yarn, BO 24 (26, 28, 30) sts for
neck, work rem sts. Work both sides at same time, BO 4 sts at each neck edge 1
time20 (22, 24, 24) sts rem for each shoulder. Piece should measure 19 (20, 21,
21 1/2). BO all sts.
Left Front
Using Size 5 straight ndls, CO 68 (74, 80, 88) sts. Knit 5 rows. Purl 1 row.
Work Openwork pattern as follows:
Open Work Pattern:
Row 1 (WS): K2, *YO, *k2tog; rep from * to last st, end k1.
Rows 2, 4 and 6 (RS): Purl.
Rows 3 and 7: Knit.
Row 5: K2, *ssk, YO; rep from * to last st, end k1.
Row 8: Purl.
Rep rows 1-5 once more, inc 1 st on last row69 (75, 81, 89) sts.
Change to size 7 ndls; work in Reverse Stockinette Stitch until piece measures
7 (7, 7 1/2, 7 1/2) "; end after working a RS (purl) row.
Shape Neck
Dec Row: K1, ssk, knit to end of row. Rep dec row every other row At the same
time; when piece measures 12 (12, 12 1/2, 12 1/2), (end after working a WS knit
row), beg armhole shaping.
Shape Armhole
BO 3 sts at armhole edge; 2 sts every other row 2 (2, 2, 3) times, and 1 st
every other row 3 (3, 3, 4) times. Work 2 rows even; BO 1 st at armhole edge 1
time 20 (22, 24, 24) sts rem for each shoulder.
Work even until piece measures
19 (20, 21 , 21 1/2 ). BO all sts.
Right front
Work same as for back to neck shaping, end after working a RS (purl) row.
Shape Neck
Dec Row: Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Rep dec row every other row
At the same
time; when piece measures 12 (12, 12 1/2, 12 1/2), end after working a RS
(purl) row beg armhole shaping.
Shape Armhole
BO 3 sts at armhole edge; 2 sts every other row 2(2, 2, 3) times, and 1 st every
other row 3 (3, 3, 4) times. Work 2 rows even; BO 1 st at armhole edge 1
time.20 (22, 24, 24,) sts rem for each shoulder.
Work even until piece measures
19 (20, 21, 21 1/2). BO all sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Work armbands. Sew side seams. Work neckband. Make I-cord
ties. Sew one tie to each front at beg of neck shaping and one to inside seam of
each piece 7 (7, 7 1/2. 7 1/2) " from lower edge.

Armbands
RS facing, using size 5 straight ndls, PU74 (82, 86, 90) sts evenly around
armhole. Knit 5 rows. BO all sts loosely.
Neckband
RS facing, using size 5, 35 circular ndls; beg at lower right front edge, PU39
sts to beg of neck shaping, 69 (75, 79, 83) sts along right front neck to right
shoulder seam, 34 (36, 38, 38) sts across back neck to left shoulder, 69 (75,
79, 83) sts along left front neck and 39 sts to lower left front edge.250 (264,
274, 282) sts. Knit 5 rows. BO all sts loosely.
I-Cord Ties (make 4)
Using dpns, CO 3 sts.* K3 sts, slide stitches to other end of needle, pull yarn
firmly across the back and repeat from * until cord measures 12. BO.
