For correct sizing, be sure to do a gauge swatch.
Back
Using smaller needles & MC, CO 80 (84, 90, 96) sts. Work in K1, P1 rib for 2.5.
Change to larger straight needle & St st. Begin Stripe sequence: CC 14 rows & MC
14 rows; AT THE SAME TIME Dec 1 st at each end every 14 (14, 16, 16) rows 3
times74 (78, 84, 98) sts. Inc 1 st at each end every 10 (10, 12, 12) rows 3
times80 (84, 90, 96) sts. Work even until piece measures 14 (14.5, 15, 15.5).
Shape Underarm
BO 3 (3, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows. BO 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1
st at each end every other row 2 (2, 3, 4) times 66 (70, 72, 76) sts. Work even
until armhole measures 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5).
Shape Shoulders & Neck
BO 7 (7, 8, 8) sts beg of next 2 rows. Working both sides at the same time, BO 7
(7, 7, 8) sts at each shoulder edge 1 time, AT THE SAME TIME, BO 20 (22, 22, 24)
center sts for neck. BO 3 sts at each neck edge, 1 time; BO 6 (7, 7, 7) sts at
each shoulder edge 1 time.
Front
Work same as for back until piece measures 9 (9.5, 10, 10.5). BO center 4 sts
for Placket. Working both sides at same time continuing shaping same as for back
to armhole each front will have 38 (40, 43, 46) sts. Work even until piece
measures 14 (14.5, 15, 15.5).
Shape Underarm
BO 3 (3, 4, 4) sts at each armhole edge 1 time. BO 2 sts at each armhole edge 1
time. Dec 1 st at each armhole edge every other row 2 (2, 3, 4) times 31 (33,
34, 36) sts. Work even until armhole measures 5.5 (5.5, 6, 6).
Shape Shoulders & Neck
BO 3 sts at each neck edge 1 time; BO 2 sts at each neck edge every other row 3
times. Dec 1 st at each neck edge every row 2 (3, 3, 4) times; AT THE SAME TIME
when armhole measures 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5) BO 7 (7, 8, 8) sts at each shoulder
edge 2 (3, 1, 2) times & 6 (0, 7, 7) sts at each shoulder edge 1 (0, 2, 1)
times.
Sleeves (Make 2)
Using smaller straight needles & MC CO 40 (42, 46, 48) sts. Work in K1, P1 rib
for 2.5. Inc 6 (6, 6, 8) sts evenly on last row46 (48, 52, 56) sts. Change to
larger needles. Work in stripe sequence same as for back until 3 stripes of CC
have been worked, then change to MC for remainder of sleeve; AT THE SAME TIME
inc 1 st at each end every 16 (16, 18, 18) rows 5 times56 (58, 62, 66) sts.
Work even until sleeve measures 17 (17.5, 18, 18.5) or desired length to
underarm.
Shape Sleeve Cap
BO 3 (3, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows; BO 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, Dec 1
st at each end every other row 10 (10, 10, 11) times. BO 2 sts at beg of next 2
rows, BO 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. BO rem 12 (14, 16, 18) sts.
Placket Bands
Button Band: RS facing, using smaller needles & CC beg at left neck edge,
PU 55 sts, along long side of placket opening,
Row 1, 3, 5 & 7 (WS): P2, *K1, P1; rep from. *end P1
Row 2, 4, 6 & 8: K1 *K1, P1; rep from * to last st, K2. (Place marker at
end of row 4). BO all sts in rib.
Buttonhole Band: RS facing, using size 6 needles & CC, beg at lower right
edge of placket opening PU 55 (55, 65, 65) sts along long side of placket
opening.
Row 1, 3, 5, & 7 (WS): P2; *K1, P1; rep from*; end P1
Row 2, 6, & 8: K1; *K1, P1; rep from * to last 2 sts; end K2.
Row 4 (buttonholes): K1; (K1, P1) 4 (4, 5, 5) times, K1, YO, K2tog; *(P1,
K1) 4 (4, 5, 5) times, YO, K2tog; rep from * 4 times; P1, K2. PM at end of this
row.
BO all sts in rib.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Work collar. Sew in sleeves. Sew side & sleeve seams. Sew
buttons to button band. Work in ends to WS.
Collar
RS facing, Using smaller needles, beg at marker at top off buttonhole band, PU 3
sts in buttonhole band, 22 (23, 24, 25) sts along right neck to shoulder seam,
29 (31, 33, 35) sts across back to left shoulder seam, 22 (23, 24, 25) sts along
left neck edge & 3 sts to marker at top of button band 79 (83, 87, 91) sts.
Row 1 (WS): P2; *K1, P1; rep from * to last st, P1.
Row 2: K2; *P1 K1; rep from * to last st, K1.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 for 4 (4, 4 1/2, 4 1/2). BO all sts in rib.
