Front & Back
The skirt is worked from the top down in 2 pieces. With Deco-Ribbon cast on
64(68, 72, 76, 80) sts. (There is about 2 ½” ease in the waist band to make it
easier to get over your head.) Work 6 rows, the next right side row purl (this
is the turning ridge for the hem) then work 12 more rows in St st. Then inc 1 st
each side every 6th row 5 times to 74 (78, 82, 86, 90). Continue working until
piece is 18” long measured from the purl ridge. Leave all the sts on a holder.
Make second piece.
Finishing
Sew up side seams, fold hem over, and sew to skirt leaving a small opening at
one end to thread in the elastic for the waistband. Cut a length of elastic the
size of your waist with a ½” extra for the overlap where it is sewn together.
Thread the elastic through the hem and sew together then close up hem.
Ruffle
Pickup all the open sts around the bottom of the skirt and join to be worked in
the round.
Follow the directions for the top ruffle except for round 1, which is to be knit
instead of purled.
